We have recently completed the detailed civil infrastructure design for this 75-unit owners corporation development. Because of the presence of competent rock at relatively shallow depths over the site we took particular pains to ensure that the required inground stormwater drainage, sewerage and water reticulation services were kept as shallow as possible, resulting in an estimated saving to the client of at least $0.5m.
We worked in a consultant team managed by Becton to prepare civil infrastructure designs for the development of 129 ILU’s and a community centre on the site of the former Rowville drive-in in Stud Road, Rowville. We prepared detailed designs for all civil infrastructure works for Knox City Council and South East Water approval. Novel and/or cost-saving aspects of the civil infrastructure design included the use of enlarged underground pipe drains controlled by a sophisticated two-stage outlet for the provision of on-site stormwater detention, and the grading of the roads to provide disabled access compliance everywhere through the development.
Westmeadows Lane, Truganina – we have recently completed the detailed design and documentation work for the civil infrastructure serving 235 demountable dwelling units in Westmeadows Lane in Truganina. The civil infrastructure includes major pipe drainage works and wetlands for stormwater cleansing to be provided to the satisfaction of Melbourne Water Corporation. Our client is Walter Elliott Holdings Pty Ltd, a South-East Queensland based developer and owner of a number of similar villages around Brisbane and the Sunshine and Gold Coasts.
Petersen Road, Edmonton, Cairns, Queenland. Construction work on the first 78 lot stage of this multi-stage 326 lot subdivision was completed in 2007. The development includes detention of stormwater and other WSUD facilities for both the construction stage and the occupied stage. We are retained to provide project engineering and contract administration services to the principal. Our involvement as designers and construction contract administrators will continue over the next two to three years for future stages of the development. The total value of the civil infrastructure work on this project is around $10m.
The principal of the practice is a registered commercial and residential builder with the Victorian Building Authority. We provided civil and structural design construction management services for this four storey, $6m apartment development on a tight site in Flemington, constructed over two years beginning in 2007. Because of space restrictions on the site and for cost-effectiveness reasons we adopted a pre-fabricated, panelised system of construction for the load-bearing walls in the development. These pre-fabricated wall panels were propped on the cast in-situ floor slabs, reinforced and concrete filled on site. The project was completed on time and on budget in 2009.
We were retained by the builder to design and document the diversion of a Coliban Water reticulation sewer around the site of a proposed extension to the Mirridong Nursing Home. A substantial portion of the new diversion sewer was constructed using directional drilling. This method of construction was adopted to minimise the risk of disturbance to the foundations of dwellings adjoining the alignment of the diversion sewer.
Civil infrastructure construction to serve this 29 strata unit development on an infill site at Golden Square in Bendigo has recently been completed. Our services covered the full range from design to tendering and contract administration for all civl and infrastructure works. The project includes stormwater detention, by underground storage and other WSUD with reuse of stormwater for irrigation.
